The best way to develop your vocabulary and improve your spelling is to read as much as possible. If you come across a word that is unfamiliar to you, make sure you look it up in the dictionary. Have a friend read out several words and practice spelling them and writing down their meaning. Have them checked and practice writing out the incorrect word several times. It sounds boring but is one of the best ways to learn how to spell and learn vocabulary.
3) Practice the Exams on This Site
Completing these exercises under time pressure will make you feel more at ease when you actually go to write the exam in the future. By taking multiple exams you can track your performance and see if you are learning, and whether your scores are improving.
4) Do not be alarmed about unknown words on the exam
Many exams will ask you vocabulary questions that you are not supposed to be able to understand. This is done often to check and make sure that cheating is not taking place. If you get all of the questions correct, there may be concern that you had a copy of either the answer key, or the questions. Examples include medical or possible legal terms. If you do get all of the answer correct, they will look closer at your background. If you don't have the training or experience that would explain why you knew these words, the administrators could become concerned that you were cheating on the exam.
