That’s what today’s post is all about. Below, I’ll cover what Cash App names, known as $Cashtags, are, and whether there are any names you can request money from.

I’ll also cover scams that you should be aware of so that you can use Cash App safely, and securely.

Table of Contents

What is a Cash App Name?

On Cash App, all users have a name. This is called a $Cashtag.

A $Cashtag is a unique identifier for individuals and businesses that use Cash App.

Choosing a $Cashtag automatically creates a shareable URL, which looks like “https://cash.app/$yourcashtag,” where your friends, family, and customers, can make payments to you privately and securely.

Basically, it’s a name that you can send money to or receive money from.

$Cashtags must include at least 1 letter, and they cannot be longer than 20 characters.

Legit Cash App Names to Request Money From

So, are there any Cash App names you can request money from?

There are legit ways to get money on Cash App, such as through Cash App giveaways and referring friends, which I’ll cover in more detail below. But, there are no Cash App names to request money from.

I did a lot of digging around online and found a few $Cashtags that kept popping up that people claim you can request money from. I can’t verify that these actually send you money or are even legit though. Like, there are no reports of people actually getting any money from these $Cashtags.

I will include some examples of the names I’ve seen online that people say you can request money from:

  1. $DeanFrancisDDoc
  2. $FittnessCoach

Most of the lists of Cash App names you can request money from that are out there online are just a list of Cash App name ideas. So, that really has nothing to do with getting money from people on there.

I would not recommend reaching out to random $Cashtags because there are so many Cash App scams out there.

Now, because there aren’t really any names to request money from, I did some more digging around online to find if there was a safer and more legit way to request money from people on Cash App, and it seems as though Reddit is the place to go.

Find Cash App names to request money from on Reddit

Okay, so if you do want to request money from people on Cash App, then I would recommend the /r/CashappBlessing subreddit.

On this subreddit, people can ask for money from people through Cash App. There are a lot of rules on the subreddit as to who can post and what their posts can contain. So, do read those through thoroughly.

To post on there, users must have at least 200 comment karma (not post karma), and the user account age must be at least 70 days old. User account age is when you first created your Reddit account and not your actual age.

The forum is designed for people who have a genuine financial need.

You will need to provide information on why you need the money. Any requests that are above $100 will require proof, like a statement or a bill. This is to deter scammers.

If you are in need of money because you have had an unexpected bill, or you’re struggling with finances in general, then consider posting on there.

Other Ways to Get Free Money on Cash App

Okay, so like I said above, there aren’t really any Cash App names you can request money from. You can try the subreddit that I mentioned above to request Cash App money. But, that’s not your only option.

There are a few other ways to get free Cash App money. This includes:

Getting an invitation bonus

Cash App gives you a $5 sign up bonus if you use a referral code when you sign up.

If you haven’t signed up for a Cash App account yet, and you have a friend or family member who has an account, then you can ask them to invite you to the platform. They can then provide you with an invite code.

You can use the invite code of the person who invited you to Cash App to receive your bonus.

To get the bonus, you will need to send $5 using a newly linked debit card within 14 days of entering the code.

It may seem counterintuitive to send money when you want money, but there’s a workaround here.

Simply send the $5 to someone you know and trust, like a friend or family member, get your bonus, and then just ask that friend or family member to send $5 to you.

You get the bonus and your original $5 sent right back to you.

Refer a Friend

You can also get money on Cash App by referring a friend.

You can earn a bonus when your friend uses your (invite) Cash App code to send $5 or more from a newly created Cash App account.

To get this bonus, you will need to make sure that your friend:

You can tap the profile icon on your home screen to see your invitation bonus amount.

Enter Cash App’s sweepstakes

Cash App often runs sweepstakes that you can enter to win free money.

You can keep up to date with Cash App’s sweepstakes by following the company on its official Twitter account and/or Instagram account.

But, be aware of scams. There are a lot of Cash App sweepstakes scams out there.

Only enter sweepstakes from the official Cash App Twitter or Instagram page. Both are blue tick accounts.

In its sweepstakes, the company often gives away $100s in free cash deposited right into your Cash App account and sometimes even bitcoin.

So, it’s worth following the company on social media and entering these sweepstakes.

Play games

You can earn free money in your Cash App account by playing games. This is an easy way to get some extra money. Be sure to read my list of Cash App games that pay real money for more information.

Take surveys

You can also earn money in your Cash App account by taking surveys. Read my list of legit surveys to make money on Cash App for more information.

Be Aware of Cash App Scams

Unfortunately, there are a lot of Cash App scams out there.

Cash App flips are particularly common scams. These involve someone asking you to send them a small amount of money, which they say they’ll “flip” to get you even more money back.

For example, someone might ask you to send them $15 on Cash App and they’ll send you $150 back. Or they may ask for $100 and they’ll send you $800 back, etc.

This is a total scam. The scammer will accept your money, and then never send you anything in return.

With the Cash App flip scam, the scammer may send you a message or put a post on social media.

Another common scam is the customer support scam. With this scam, the scammer pretends to be a Cash App customer support agent or some other company representative, so that they can gain access to your account and steal your money.

It’s really important to be aware of these Cash App scams and know how to avoid them, so that you can keep your money, and personal information, such as your Social Security Number (SSN), safe.

Have a read of my Cash App scams article. It lists common scams, and how you can avoid them.
