Meeting the needs of plan members displaced by wildfires

Alberta Blue Cross ® is committed to ensuring our plan members displaced by wildfires in Alberta receive uninterrupted coverage. If you were evacuated and don’t have your Alberta Blue Cross ® ID card, you can access benefit and account information through our member site and app.

Flight Delay Service now included on all personal plans

All Retiree, Blue Choice ® , Blue Assured ® and Young Adult plan members now have access to Flight Delay Service at no extra cost. This exclusive benefit gives you access to an airport lounge if you’re delayed for 3 hours or more and a hotel room if you’re delayed for 6 hours or more.

Emergency Medical Care

If you need to stay at a hospital or buy a prescription while travelling, Emergency Medical Care can help. We offer up to $5 million in coverage.

Trip Cancellation or Interruption

Don't let last-minute changes set you back. Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverage reimburses prepaid non-refundable and non-transferable expenses, such as airfare or hotel deposits.

Optional Protection: Pandemic

Optional Protection: Pandemic provides coverage if you need to cancel or interrupt your trip due to a pandemic.

Visitors to Canada

Protect your loved ones during their stay in Canada. Visitors to Canada provides Emergency Medical Care up to $5 million.

Top-Up Insurance

Flight Delay Service

Flight Delay Service offers you access to an airport lounge or hotel if your flight is delayed. Best of all, it's included at no cost when you buy Emergency Medical Care or Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverage.

Baggage loss coverage

Travelling without your belongings is frustrating. Baggage loss coverage reimburses you for the cost to replace your missing, damaged or stolen items.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment

A serious accident can happen while you're away from home. If you have loved ones who rely on your income, this optional add-on provides financial support when the worst happens.

Government health benefits

Alberta Blue Cross ® delivers health benefit programs on behalf of the Government of Alberta. Albertans who meet eligibility criteria can apply for the programs.

Non-Group Coverage

This program provides affordable coverage for Albertans under 65 years old. It covers health-related services not covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). Members can choose from single or family coverage.

Coverage for Seniors

Albertans who turn 65 years old are eligible for Coverage for Seniors. This program provides premium-free coverage for prescription drugs, diabetes supplies, health services and more.

Palliative Coverage

Palliative Coverage supports Albertans who are diagnosed as palliative. It provides coverage for health-related services not covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP).

Optical Assistance for Seniors

Optical Assistance for Seniors helps cover the cost of basic optical services for eligible low-income seniors. The program provides up to $230 in coverage.

Client Directed Home Care

Home care provides Albertans with personal and health care services at home.
